Hasan İmamoğlu could not hold back his tears
Hasan İmamoğlu, father of CHP presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, stated that he spent the holiday without his son for the first time, saying, "It is a shame, the accusations are a shame; we did not deserve this." Unable to hide his emotions, Hasan İmamoğlu expressed that they were experiencing a bittersweet holiday.
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel visited the İmamoğlu family in Trabzon on the first day of Ramadan Bayram, following the arrest of CHP presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Özel performed the holiday prayer in Cevizli, İmamoğlu's village, alongside Hasan İmamoğlu and his sons, Mehmet Selim and Semih. Following the prayer, he launched a petition campaign demanding the release of Ekrem İmamoğlu and calling for early elections.
"THE HEART WISHED FOR A MORE JOYFUL HOLIDAY"
Sharing his feelings after the holiday prayer, Hasan İmamoğlu stated that they were having a bittersweet holiday, and as he said, "The heart wished for a more joyful holiday," he could not hold back his tears.
Stating that he was spending his first holiday apart from his son and struggling to speak, Hasan İmamoğlu expressed his sorrow with the words, "It is a shame, the accusations are a shame; we did not deserve this." Answering questions regarding his visit to Ekrem İmamoğlu in Silivri, Hasan İmamoğlu used the expressions, "He is very resilient, doing quite well, and in high spirits. It is an undeserved punishment, a usurpation, a sense of revenge..."
