He boarded as a passenger, beat the taxi driver, and killed him
In Kocaeli, a taxi driver was first beaten by a passenger who had boarded his vehicle, and was then shot and killed with a handgun. While the assailant fled the scene, the commercial taxi, which was still running, rolled downhill and crashed into a pickup truck and a van.
The incident occurred around 18:00 on Dörtyol, 101st Street, in the 4 Temmuz neighborhood of the Karamürsel district.
According to the information obtained, an unidentified individual, while traveling in the taxi with license plate 41 T 6018 that he had boarded as a passenger, beat the driver, Murat Karaca (45), for reasons yet unknown.
The passenger then shot the taxi driver with a handgun and fled. The commercial taxi, which was still running, rolled downhill and came to a stop after crashing into a pickup truck and a van.
Upon notification by citizens, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Checks performed by the health teams who arrived at the scene in a short time determined that Karaca had lost his life.
Police teams have launched an investigation to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
