According to reports in the Swedish press, Salwan Momika, an Iraqi-born individual who made headlines with his Quran-burning protests, was killed in an armed attack at an apartment in the city of Södertälje on the night of January 29, 2025.

HE WAS BROADCASTING LIVE ON TIKTOK DURING THE ATTACK
It was learned that Salwan Momika was broadcasting live on TikTok at the time the armed attack took place. Following reports of the shooting, police arrived at the scene and discovered Momika's lifeless body in the home.

WHO IS SALWAN MOMIKA?
Salwan Momika was a 38-year-old Iraqi asylum seeker. Arriving in Sweden in 2018, Momika was granted asylum status in 2021. In the past, he served as a militia leader affiliated with the Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi), an Iranian-backed group in Iraq. In 2023, he made headlines with his Quran-burning protests in Sweden. These actions sparked widespread reactions across the Islamic world.
In October 2023, Swedish authorities decided to deport Momika. Following this decision, Momika announced that he planned to apply for asylum in neighboring Norway.
He died on January 29, 2025, as a result of an attack carried out at his home in the city of Södertälje, Sweden.
