He claimed 'I am the governor's nephew'... 146 thousand TL fine and license suspension
In Sarıyer, a driver attempting to gain priority in traffic with a vehicle equipped with illegal flashing lights tried to mislead another driver who reacted to him by claiming, 'I am the governor's nephew.' However, this claim turned out to be false, and the driver was issued heavy penalties.
In an incident that occurred on Cendere Street in Sarıyer, a driver using a vehicle with illegal flashing lights drove away after telling another driver who reacted to him, 'I am the governor's nephew.' These moments were recorded by a person accompanying the driver on a mobile phone camera and shared on social media.
Following the spread of the footage, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Traffic Inspection Branch took action. As a result of the investigations, the driver, identified as S.O. (22), who was using the vehicle with flashing lights, was apprehended. A total fine of 146 thousand 134 TL was issued to S.O., and his driver's license was suspended for 30 days. Additionally, the vehicle was banned from traffic for 30 days.
While judicial proceedings have been initiated against the driver S.O., it has also been confirmed that he is not the nephew of Istanbul Governor Davut Gül. It was reported that S.O. would be referred to judicial authorities following the completion of his processing.
