He did not mention Atatürk in the sermon, Erbaş prayed at the Palace
The President of Religious Affairs prayed for Atatürk during the August 30 ceremony at the Presidential Palace.
While the Presidency of Religious Affairs included the name of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the message it published for the August 30 Victory Day, it did not mention Atatürk's name in the Friday Sermon.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted harshly to this situation, stating that the President of Religious Affairs does not carry national sentiments and is ruining the nation's faith. İmamoğlu had said, "The President of Religious Affairs is not a person who carries the national and spiritual sentiments of this nation; he is engaging in politics. He is trying to please someone, and I don't even know who he is trying to please. May God reform him. A President of Religious Affairs who cannot represent the homeland, the nation, the flag, the Republic, or the state."
HE MENTIONED ATATÜRK IN HIS PRAYER AT THE PALACE
Following these developments, the President of Religious Affairs, Ali Erbaş, mentioned Atatürk's name in the prayer he recited at the ceremony held at the Palace.
It was noted that Erbaş's prayer included the phrase, "Starting with the commander-in-chief of August 30, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and all our veterans..."
