He forged their signatures: Verdict reached for the accountant who defrauded Aziz Yıldırım and his daughter

Murat E., who worked as an accountant at Aziz Yıldırım's maritime company, had embezzled 765,000 TL by forging the signatures of Yıldırım and his daughter, Gülşah Yıldırım Gordi, on fake bank instructions.

The final hearing of the case against Murat E., who faced up to 13 years in prison, was held.

According to a report by Sabah, the prosecutor's opinion stated that Murat E. had been the accounting manager at the Yıldırım family's company for 20 years and had left in 2022 without notice. Upon examination of the company records, it was reported that the defendant had issued instructions to banks to withdraw money in the names of Aziz Yıldırım and Gülşah Yıldırım Gordi, withdrawing 765,000 lira, and that he neither spent this amount for the company nor gave it to the Yıldırım family.

"THERE WAS TRUST, WE DID NOT KEEP DOCUMENTS"

The prosecutor's opinion noted that Murat E. claimed he withdrew money at the request of the Yıldırım family and gave it to them or to places they designated, but that they did not keep documents because the relationship was based on trust. It was recorded that he claimed he did not forge signatures and that he was being falsely accused because he left the job without notice.

EXPERT REPORT RECALLED

The prosecutor's opinion stated that as a result of an expert examination of the company records, it was determined that the defendant had embezzled 765,000 lira, that he had withdrawn money from banks on different dates by forging signatures, and that he had kept the money for himself instead of delivering it to the company. His punishment was requested.

BOTH PRISON AND A FINE

The court sentenced Murat E. to a total of 8 years and 9 months in prison and a judicial fine of 1 million 295 thousand lira for the crimes of "fraud by using information systems, banks, or credit institutions as a tool" and "forgery of a private document." Noting that there was no conviction that the defendant would not commit a crime again, the court did not apply any reduction to the sentence.
