Övüç was detained in Beyoğlu yesterday on charges of "publicly insulting the religious values adopted by a section of the public." Övüç, who shared footage of himself boarding a plane while wearing a headscarf on social media, was referred to judicial authorities after the images drew significant backlash.
CRIMINAL RECORD REVEALED
During the investigation, it was learned that Övüç has a criminal record for offenses including "Inciting the Public to Hatred and Hostility or Insulting," "Insulting the Turkish Nation and State Institutions," "Intentional Injury," and "Breach of Trust."
RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
