CHP provincial mayors have entered a retreat in Afyonkarahisar. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements regarding the agenda there.
Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, who was arrested, was also on Özel's agenda. Speaking about Yalım's disciplinary process, Özel said, "In recent days, there were images in one of the operations that would not satisfy any of us. We made our self-criticism and the necessary assignments there as well. Our relevant legal colleagues have prepared their reports with the authority granted by the Central Executive Board (MYK)."
Continuing his speech, Özel added, "In the coming days, the CHP will implement what is expected of it in a manner befitting itself, in line with the decision it has taken."
Reacting to the operations targeting municipalities under his party's administration, Özel criticized the government through former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek. Özel said, "This Melih Gökçek will not be tried, but our friends who wrote the book on clean municipalism will face these accusations; get out of here!"
