While numerous comments were made regarding the footage that surfaced years later, Prosecutor Yavuz Engin, known to the public for the Newborn Gang case, had made a remarkable post. Engin stated regarding Güney, "The person named Yılmaz Güney is a judge-killer. He is an enemy of the state with a terrorist mentality." Following this post, the Güney family took action and filed a criminal complaint against Engin with the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) and the prosecutor's office.

As the debates continue, a reaction to Prosecutor Engin came from the Palace. Mustafa Akış, Chief Advisor to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, argued that Engin's post was a PR stunt and that it 'did not align with the seriousness of the state.'

Akış's statement is as follows:

"Unfortunately, for some time now, we have been observing that some of our judicial members have been making posts on digital platforms based on a desire for engagement that do not align with the requirements and dignity of the profession.

It is clear that social media activities that lead to an 'influencer judge/prosecutor' perception negatively affect the institutional reputation of the judiciary and the trust placed in it.

Engaging in personal PR work via social media does not befit the seriousness that our citizens expect from the institution of justice, and such irresponsible behavior has no place in our state tradition.

In my opinion, maintaining professional dignity in all kinds of digital content, from profile pictures to the texts shared, should be essential. In this context, I once again bring the Social Media Usage Guide (adopted by the Council of Judges and Prosecutors with the General Assembly Decision dated 08.03.2022 and numbered 639) to the attention of all concerned parties."
