He had called on retired soldiers for the lieutenants: Investigation launched into CHP's Yankı Bağcıoğlu!

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into retired soldier and CHP Deputy Chairman Yankı Bağcıoğlu, who had called on retired soldiers to raise their voices in reaction to the investigation opened against the lieutenants.

It was announced that an ex officio investigation has been launched against Bağcıoğlu for violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911 and Article 95 of the Military Penal Code No. 1632.

AKP'S ÖMER ÇELİK HAD REACTED

AKP Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson Ömer Çelik had reacted with the words, "It is a very irresponsible approach for Mr. Bağcıoğlu to call on retired soldiers to take action in order to influence the disciplinary mechanism affiliated with the Ministry of National Defense."

WHAT HAPPENED?

CHP Deputy Chairman Yankı Bağcıoğlu had sent a message to retired soldiers regarding the lieutenants who took a sword oath following the graduation ceremony at the Military Academy and are now facing dismissal.

Inviting retired soldiers to hold a press statement for the lieutenants, Bağcıoğlu had used the following expressions in his message:

“Dear Commanders, my esteemed comrades-in-arms;

In order to provide support to our lieutenants, whose situations will be evaluated by the Land Forces Command High Disciplinary Board on January 16, 2025, in the spirit of comradeship, we want to hold a press statement and make our voices heard on January 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the squares/areas to be determined in all possible cities, without any political considerations or thoughts.

We sincerely request your support and contributions to the planning efforts in the provinces where you are located.

In addition to retired soldiers, we welcome all patriotic citizens to the press statements with only Turkish flags and Atatürk posters.”
