He had denied the Imrali visit: Flash claim from Nagehan Alçı regarding the contradictory statements of AKP's Yayman

The commission established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) as part of the second resolution process, dubbed 'Turkey Without Terror,' decided on November 21 to visit Imrali and meet with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK.

While there was curiosity regarding when and how the Imrali delegation—consisting of AKP Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Yayman, MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız, and DEM Party Group Deputy Chairman Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit—would travel to the island, a series of developments occurred yesterday.

While the Mesopotamia News Agency announced that the delegation had gone to Imrali yesterday, DEM Party sources speaking to T24 also confirmed the information. However, AKP's Hüseyin Yayman stated to İlke Tv, 'This information is incorrect. I did not go to the island, and I do not know who went. The information has no basis in truth. It will become clear in the coming days.'

In the evening, the Office of the Speaker of the Parliament issued a written statement confirming that the delegation had met with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan. Following this statement, Yayman also confirmed the visit in a conversation with journalist İsmail Saymaz, saying, 'Together with Feti Yıldız and Gülistan Koçyiğit, we went to Imrali Island as a commission and held the meeting.'

NAGEHAN ALÇI DEFENDS YAYMAN

Journalist Nagehan Alçı provided an assessment regarding the reason why Yayman first said 'I did not go' and later admitted to the meeting. Alçı used the following expressions in her social media post:

'Hüseyin Yayman is one of the most knowledgeable figures who has been working on the solution to the Kurdish issue for years. He is a democrat. He is being treated unfairly based on his statement yesterday. However, there is an overlooked aspect of the matter... Before the visit took place, İlke Tv received a tip and began broadcasting. At that moment, they called Yayman. In such visits, security is of great importance. This is a visit that must take place in secrecy and security. Announcing it in advance could jeopardize the mission. As I understand it, Yayman did not confirm the visit at that time due to security reasons. In my opinion, Yayman's main mistake here was answering the phone. If he hadn't answered, this debate would not have happened.'
