In the case filed against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu on the allegation that he called YSK members 'fools', the Istanbul Anadolu 7th Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced İmamoğlu to 2 years, 7 months, and 15 days in prison, along with a 4-year political ban.
While all eyes are on the Court of Appeal, IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu has filed a petition for the third time to attend the final hearing of the case at the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice.
İmamoğlu answered journalists' questions after attending a program in Istanbul.
Speaking about the petition he filed to attend the hearing, İmamoğlu said, "I was there to contribute to them being able to make a healthier decision. I went there today and filed an application so that an event that has become a matter of public interest can be removed from the public agenda."
"LET THEM STOP OCCUPYING THE NATION"
Saying "Let's talk and let whatever is going to happen, happen," İmamoğlu continued as follows:
"Let them stop occupying the nation. I found it appropriate to make a personal request, I submitted the petition, and I am waiting for an answer.
