The cause of death of Prof. Dr. Orhan Ekren, a former Ege University faculty member whose lifeless body was found in Regent's Canal after he went missing in England, could not be determined. His wife, Banu Ekren, stated that samples were taken for a detailed autopsy and that the results would be known in approximately 3 months.

Prof. Dr. Orhan Ekren, who moved to the city of Milton Keynes in England in 2021 with his wife and 2 children, went missing on November 26. After moving to England, Ekren, who worked at a private energy company, was never heard from again after he disappeared at 22.30 in London, where he had gone to apply for a visa. Ekren's bag and clothes were found near the Camden Lock Regent's Canal. While search efforts for Ekren were ongoing, his wife Banu Ekren, who works as a lecturer at Cranfield University, announced that Prof. Dr. Orhan Ekren was found dead in the canal on December 15.

FUNERAL CEREMONY TO BE HELD

Prof. Dr. Ekren's body was handed over to his relatives after blood and tissue samples were taken for a detailed autopsy. Prof. Dr. Ekren's body was sent to İzmir today. Ekren's wife, Banu Ekren, said that the detailed autopsy results would be known in approximately 3 months. Banu Ekren also stated that an investigation has been opened into the death of her husband. A funeral ceremony will be held for Prof. Dr. Ekren tomorrow at noon at the Torbalı Yazıbaşı Central Mosque. Following the funeral ceremony, Ekren will be laid to rest in the Yazıbaşı Cemetery.
