He had resigned from his post at the Palace: Furkan Torlak responds to Cem Küçük's allegations
Furkan Torlak, a childhood friend of Mehmet Akif Ersoy who resigned from his position at the Presidential Communications Directorate following Ersoy's arrest, has responded to the allegations brought to the agenda by Cem Küçük.
The arrest of former Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy in a drug operation investigation continues to remain on the agenda.
Furkan Torlak, Coordinator of the Center for Combating Disinformation at the Presidential Communications Directorate, whose name was mentioned in a report by the pro-government Sabah newspaper regarding the matter, had resigned from his post, noting that he and Mehmet Akif Ersoy had been friends since childhood.
CEM KÜÇÜK'S ALLEGATIONS AGAINST FURKAN TORLAK
Speaking on the pro-government TGRT Haber, Cem Küçük made assessments regarding the drug operation in question while also leveling striking allegations against Torlak. Küçük said, "I know firsthand that this Furkan has previously made a fuss about me and others at the Külliye (Presidential Complex) many times. I have verified this with 3-4 people as well. He came here with Numan Bey's team. At one point he went to the Ministry of Tourism, but they didn't keep him. Fahrettin Altun appointed him as the head of the Center for Combating Disinformation just as he was leaving."
Stating that "Furkan's name is also mentioned in the statements given by 2-3 people," Küçük added, "His private life doesn't concern me, but Furkan also needs to pass a drug test."
Saying, "The house you live in in Ankara is worth 40 million liras. The car you drive is worth 10 million liras," Küçük said the following:
"We know what you are doing through Menekşe İnşaat. We have the documents. It is known that you are snapping up plots of land, etc. They even prepare negative reports about ministers, saying 'he prepared an intelligence report about these people' and creating a pool, claiming 'the President wanted it this way,' and distributing these reports here and there. They are also trying to intimidate the ministers."
TORLAK'S RESPONSE TO KÜÇÜK
Journalist Fatih Atik, who read Furkan Torlak's written statement on TGRT, stated that he knows Torlak closely and has never witnessed him conducting an operation against anyone to date.
Torlak responded to the allegations against him with the following statements:
"My vehicle is an A6 model and it is not worth 10 million TL, but half that. I bought my current house in 2021 by selling my previous one. At that time, it was in the 3-4 million range. Prices were low due to a title deed dispute.
I applied voluntarily for a drug test a long time ago. I told the authorities 'I can take it.' I will probably do it soon."
No one suggested my resignation decision. I felt responsible and resigned because I did not want the institution's name to be involved in these debates.
My childhood friend took me to the place called the 'library' by jokingly saying, 'we will take you to the library.' Due to the noise, I sat on the armchair at the entrance and then left. I was not on duty at the Communications Directorate at that date.
I also said that Fuat Uğur is an elder I respect. He supported the 'demleme' (brewing) posts. I learned this through mutual friends."
Torlak also stated the following regarding Cem Küçük's attitude:
"He is turning a statement made by the DMM (Center for Combating Disinformation) about Cem into a personal grudge. I also know who he gets this grudge from in Ankara and how he is being manipulated."
KÜÇÜK: WE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING
Cem Küçük responded to Torlak with harsh expressions during the broadcast. Küçük said that a 'report' had been given to President and AKP Chairman Erdoğan and Communications Director Burhanettin Duran regarding Torlak. Küçük stated the following:
"Furkan shouldn't play innocent or anything. I know it personally from at least 3-4 people. He knows well what he is doing. A report was prepared on issues such as land grabbing and Menekşe İnşaat business. It was given to the Külliye.
Explanations like 'my car is 5 million, not 10, my house is 4 million, not 40' do not convince anyone. How he earned this money at the age of 35-40, we have it all.
That place called the library is not a place open to everyone. It is a private, expensive, high-society venue. It is not a place you can just walk into through the door. His saying 'it was noisy, I left' is a lie.
It was also conveyed to the Külliye, 'where are these friends of yours hanging out?' He will probably be called to testify. He can explain it to the prosecutors now."
