Sports commentators Nevzat Dindar and Alper Mert, who host a program on the YouTube channel Taktik Mania Plus, had previously threatened journalist Murat Ağırel, who brought allegations of betting and money laundering in football to the agenda.

Dindar had said, "Murat Ağırel, watch your step. I am saying this clearly and plainly. Do your journalism, that's fine. No one can criticize that aspect of it. But your recent posts and your effort to drag Galatasaray into this are unseemly. Your use of Cumhuriyet is also unacceptable," while the other commentator, Alper Mert, addressing Ağırel, had said, "We expect you to show the necessary stance to those who ask this of you. It is clear that there are those asking this of you. I am saying one last thing and closing. Friends, don't forget, you might leave home thinking you are going to Galatasaray's funeral, but you might find that Galatasaray is having your funeral prayer read."

According to the report by Cumhuriyet, Dindar and Mert apologized for the threats during their YouTube live broadcast yesterday. Alper Mert said, "That sentence was not about Mr. Murat or any specific person. I made a general comment. I am very sorry for occupying the public agenda in this way. I do not threaten anyone. We will be in communication with Mr. Murat. Perhaps he will even join our broadcast. I apologize to the public. I also apologize to Murat Ağırel."

Nevzat Dindar stated, "For my part, if it was understood in this way, I apologize. I apologize to Murat Ağırel."
