WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Five lieutenants and three commanders who took an oath with swords and chanted "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" after the Military Academy graduation ceremony were dismissed from the Turkish Armed Forces. The decision at the Ministry of National Defense High Disciplinary Board was taken with a 5-to-4 vote.
Brigadier General Hakan Tutucu, Head of Logistics of the Land Forces Command, who voted against the dismissal of the lieutenants, requested his retirement. It had been reported that Tutucu submitted his retirement petition to the Land Forces Command in recent days.
