He took Narin’s slipper and a rod, claimed ‘she is alive’: ‘A nonsensical event’
A scandal occurred while search efforts for Narin were ongoing in Diyarbakır. A person participating in the search efforts joined a live broadcast on Show TV, claiming with rods in his hand that Narin was alive and that he would find her. Former AKUT President Nasuh Mahruki reacted to the incident in a statement to 12punto, calling it “nonsensical.”
Turkey is waiting for news about 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing in Diyarbakır on August 21. While search and rescue efforts continue, a scandal occurred yesterday on Didem Arslan Yılmaz’s program on Show TV. A member of an association called ARAF, who joined the search efforts for Narin Güran from Hatay, appeared on the live broadcast with Narin Güran’s slipper and rods in his hands. The person, who claimed to be involved in the search efforts, stated that the rod in his hand worked based on blood type, that Narin was alive, and that he would find Narin with the rod in his hand.
Nasuh Mahruki, who served as the president of AKUT for many years, spoke to 12 Punto about this issue. Nasuh Mahruki reacted by saying, “It is a nonsensical event. There is no such search and rescue method. It is complete nonsense to have these people appear on channels.”

THE ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT IS A MEMBER OF THE FSA

The association called ARAF, to which the person who joined the live broadcast belongs, is actually a search and rescue association based in Ardeşen, Rize. The president of the association is Murat Kutanis. Despite being a Rize-based association, they also opened a branch in Hatay. The association’s president, Murat Kutanis, is an interesting figure. Murat Kutanis, who participated in the Syrian civil war within the Free Syrian Army (FSA), introduces himself as an FSA commander on his Instagram account.

He also participated in operations in Syria alongside the FSA. Murat Kutanis, who is a nationalist (Ülkücü), also served as the president of the Ardeşen Ülkü Ocakları between 2001 and 2004. It has become a matter of curiosity how Murat Kutanis, who works as a cleaning staff member at a vocational school affiliated with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, finds time for search and rescue efforts.
