The verdict has been announced in the trial where writer Abdurrahman Dilipak was being tried for 'insult' with a request for up to 4 years in prison due to his remarks regarding KADEM in a column he wrote on July 27, 2020.

Abdurrahman Dilipak and the lawyers for the parties were present at the hearing held at the Küçükçekmece 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance.

HE SAID "I WANT JUSTICE" AT THE HEARING

When asked for his final defense at the hearing, Abdurrahman Dilipak said, "There is no concrete accusation regarding KADEM in the indictment. Therefore, I cannot understand how they think their reputations have been damaged in society. I want justice."

HE WAS FINED

Announcing its decision, the court ruled that Dilipak be sentenced to a judicial fine of 42 thousand TL on the grounds that it was established that he committed the crime of 'insult' against the complainants. The case was dismissed regarding 3 victims who withdrew their complaints.

FROM THE INDICTMENT

The indictment prepared by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office states that executives, including those from the AKP Headquarters and the Women and Democracy Association, filed a criminal complaint due to the column titled "AKP's Daisies" by Abdurrahman Dilipak, published in Yeni Akit Newspaper on July 27, 2020, and that an investigation was initiated.

In the indictment, which stated that Dilipak's words were of a nature that could offend honor, dignity, and respectability, it was requested that the defendant Dilipak be sentenced to 1 year and 6 months to 4 years and 1 month in prison for the crime of 'public insult due to the disclosure and dissemination of people's political, social, philosophical, and religious beliefs, thoughts, and opinions in a chain manner'.
