Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu made statements in Düzce, where he went for visits and meetings. Claiming that fertility rates in Turkey are low, Minister Memişoğlu stated, "As the Ministry of Health, we will do our best to resolve the problems regarding this issue, whether they are socio-economic or related to cesarean section rates."
Minister Memişoğlu pointed to cesarean births as the reason for the low fertility rates.
Memişoğlu used the following expressions:
"We always talk about hospital services, but we are the Ministry of Health, not the ministry of illness. We care about protecting the health of our people before they get sick, and we prioritize preventive medicine and preventive health. We advise the public to protect their own physical health. Under the coordination of our Presidency and the Ministry of Family and Social Services, we are trying to do our part in this regard as well. Turkey's fertility rates are low. As the Ministry of Health, we will do our best to resolve the problems regarding this issue, whether they are socio-economic or related to cesarean section rates."
