In a written statement from the Ministry, it was recalled that the baby gorilla, which was being attempted to be transported in transit through Turkey without documentation, was seized during a check conducted by the Ministry of Trade's Customs Enforcement teams at Istanbul Airport.

The statement noted that the baby gorilla, which is undergoing rehabilitation and care by National Parks personnel, is showing improvement in its health and will continue to be kept under observation.
