Heavy blow to the terrorist organization DHKP/C: Key figures of the organization arrested in the Çağlayan terror attack!

The knot has been untied in the attack carried out at the entrance of the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. 96 suspects captured in the investigation launched into the terror attack carried out by two cell members belonging to the leftist terrorist organization DHKP/C at the police checkpoint were referred to the courthouse yesterday morning.

IMPORTANT NAMES SENT TO PRISON

The hearing, which continued until midnight, ended at 01:15. 48 suspects were arrested, with 14 of the 96 suspects charged with 'attempting to abolish the constitutional order' and 'qualified intentional killing', 33 with 'being a member of an armed terrorist organization', and 1 with 'aiding the organization'. While the remaining 48 suspects were released under judicial control provisions, it was stated that the sister of the killed organization member Pınar Birkoç, who was on trial at the 13th High Criminal Court during the action, was also determined to be linked to the action and was decided to be arrested for attempting to abolish the constitutional order.

Furthermore, it was reported that 5 out of 6 suspects who were detained by law enforcement and brought to court within the scope of the investigation conducted into individuals identified as having made provocative posts on social media accounts following the heinous attack were also arrested and sent to prison. The total number of arrested suspects was recorded as 54.

In the investigation conducted regarding the action, among those arrested are key figures of the organization who are understood to have acted with instructions for effective action.

Among the suspects arrested by the court panel are G.E., who is alleged to be the Istanbul head of the organization and the wife of C.E., who is alleged to be the Turkey head of DHKP/C; A.Ö., who was allegedly detained in Lebanon in March 2018 and is being tried on charges of being a DHKP/C organization executive; N.B., the older sister of DHKP/C militant Pınar Birkoç, who was killed during the attack; and S.Ö., an organization leader who is shown as the Hatay head of the organization, is a cousin of cell member Fırat Ö., who carried out the attack on soldiers standing guard in front of Dolmabahçe Palace in January 2015, and who has previously been investigated for allegedly receiving bomb and weapons training in Syria.

Also among the 48 suspects who were referred to court and arrested in the investigation into the terror attack on the Istanbul Courthouse is an organization member named M.Ö., who was pardoned 22 years ago by the 10th President Ahmet Necdet Sezer in 2002 while in prison. M.Ö., who was convicted in the past for participating in many organizational activities, was pardoned by the 10th President Ahmet Necdet Sezer in January 2002 while he was on a hunger strike in prison. It was stated that organization member Ö. was pardoned due to Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, which he contracted during his hunger strike 22 years ago.
