Heavy snowfall in Tunceli closes 300 village roads

The snowfall, which has continued incessantly for the last two days in Tunceli, has disrupted daily life. While the snow depth in the city center has reached 40 centimeters, it has exceeded one meter in higher regions. Significant disruptions in transportation are being experienced, particularly in rural areas. Roads to a total of 300 settlements across the province have been closed due to snow.

The Governor's Office and the Provincial Special Administration are conducting intensive efforts with 120 personnel and numerous pieces of heavy machinery to combat the snow. While municipal teams are clearing main roads and sidewalks within the city, Highway teams are continuing non-stop snow removal operations to ensure safety on the connecting road between Tunceli and Erzincan and on the dangerous curves at high altitudes.

Fascinating scenes emerged in the Munzur Valley National Park following the snowfall. In the region, which is one of Turkey's largest natural parks, the valley, as well as mountains, forested areas, and trees, were covered in a white blanket. These images were recorded by drone and shared with the public. The occasional presence of fog made the scenery even more striking.

Meteorological authorities have warned citizens to be careful and take precautions against potential negative consequences due to the heavy snowfall in the region. Cleaning and road-opening efforts in the city center and surrounding districts are continuing in order to reopen the closed village roads to traffic.
