Hezbollah confirms Hashem Safieddine was killed by the Israeli military

Hezbollah, operating in Lebanon, has confirmed the death of Hashem Safieddine, the head of Hezbollah's Executive Council and the likely successor to Hassan Nasrallah, who lost his life in an assassination carried out by Israel on September 27.

In a written statement issued by Hezbollah, it was stated that Safieddine "lost his life in a criminal Zionist attack."

The statement noted that Safieddine, who served at various levels including the Executive Council of Hezbollah, was "a brother to Nasrallah and has joined him."

Israeli Army Spokesperson Daniel Hagari announced yesterday that Safieddine was killed in an attack on the Dahiyeh neighborhood in southern Beirut on October 4.
