His meeting with Vedat Işıkhan had been widely discussed: CHP Mayor responds to claims that he will switch to the AKP

Claims have emerged that İzmir Karşıyaka Mayor Yıldız İşçimenler Ünsal would switch to the AKP. The source of this claim was statements made by Sinan Burhan, known for his proximity to the government, during a TV program he attended. Yıldız Ünsal has issued a statement in response to these rumors.

Ünsal categorically denied the claim in question. In her statement, Mayor Ünsal said, "I have no intention of changing parties." She further emphasized that she will continue her duties as the Mayor of Karşıyaka under the CHP umbrella.

SHE EXPLAINED THE MEETING HELD WITH VEDAT IŞIKHAN

Yıldız Ünsal stated that her meeting with Vedat Işıkhan, held as part of a search for solutions regarding social security and tax debts as a CHP mayor, had nothing to do with a party change. Ünsal expressed that the meeting was entirely aimed at developing solution proposals for Karşıyaka's economic problems.

In her statement, Ünsal said, "I am honored to be the Republican People's Party Mayor of Karşıyaka." She also added, "It is untrue to portray our meeting with Mr. Vedat Işıkhan, which was held to discuss our municipality's social security and tax debts and to talk about solution proposals, as a party transfer."

I WILL CONTINUE THE STRUGGLE UNDER THE CHP UMBRELLA

Stating that she has been fighting for workers' rights for the last two years and that she will continue this struggle under the CHP umbrella, Ünsal said, "With the support of our Chairman Özgür Özel, I will continue this struggle to the end under the roof of the Republican People's Party."
