Historical artifact discovered in a house garden in Gaziantep

In the Nurdağı district of Gaziantep, a Roman-era tomb was revealed following a collapse in a house garden.

According to the information obtained, aftershocks have been continuing in the district following the earthquake that occurred on December 1. In this context, a citizen living in the Çanakçı neighborhood of Nurdağı noticed a collapse in their garden and reported it to the gendarmerie.

Gendarmerie teams arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation in the area. During the inspection, a single-chamber tomb from the Roman period, 2.5 meters in height, was discovered. Five human bones, one empty pottery vessel, and one bronze fibula pin were found in the tomb.

The tomb and the findings were handed over to the Gaziantep Museum Directorate. It was reported that investigations are ongoing in the area, which has been placed under protection by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command.
