In Çorlu, Tekirdağ, a driver who hit 9-year-old Oğulcan, the son of Ayhan Kalpak, as he was using a crosswalk, dropped the injured child off at the hospital and fled.
In Çorlu, Tekirdağ, on July 18 at around 11:30 PM, 9-year-old Oğulcan, who was out with his father Ayhan Kalpak, a factory worker, tried to run across a crosswalk on their way home.
However, a car hit Kalpak at that moment. Ayhan Kalpak and the driver who caused the accident ran to Oğulcan's side. Ayhan Kalpak picked up his son and carried him to the driver's vehicle. The driver took the father and son to a private hospital, dropped them off, and then fled. Oğulcan Kalpak suffered a broken leg and injuries to his face and body.
'IT COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT'
Ayhan Kalpak stated that they were unable to get the car's license plate number and could not learn the driver's identity. Explaining that the driver fled after bringing them to the hospital in his car, Kalpak said, "The man hit my son without even touching the brakes. After hitting him, he got out of the car, stopped, picked up my son and me, and brought us to the hospital. After dropping us off at the hospital, he ran away. My son's leg was broken, and he underwent surgery. The driver never reached out to us in any way; things could have been much worse, it could have been a fatal accident. We have been devastated for days. We don't know who hit him; maybe he didn't have a driver's license. We are pressing charges. If he had gone slowly at the crosswalk, this accident would never have happened."
