Halkın Kurtuluş Partisi (HKP) Chairman Nurullah Efe Ankut was detained at his home in the morning by law enforcement officers acting on orders from the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of "Insulting the President."

According to information provided by the HKP, the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office consists of statements made by Nurullah Efe Ankut in a video published on the X platform on 12.02.2025, in which he claimed that "Tayyip Erdoğan's diploma is fake, that he submitted a fake diploma to the military recruitment office, that it was impossible for him to have performed military service as a reserve officer because his diploma is fake, that when we come to power he will be conscripted again and forced to serve as a 'private,' and that by making him peel potatoes and onions in the mess hall, he would have the opportunity to be useful to the nation and the country for the first time in his life."

ANKUT RELEASED IN THE EVENING

According to the HKP's statement, there was another investigation file in Ankara: "The courthouse police informed our lawyers that there was another investigation file opened against our Chairman Nurullah Efe at the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, that there was a second arrest warrant for him for this reason, and that they were waiting for instructions from the prosecutor, and that he could not be released until the instructions arrived."
