Hopa Mayor summoned to give statement
Hopa Mayor Utku Cihan has been summoned to give a statement as part of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) investigation.
CHP's Artvin Hopa Mayor Utku Cihan has also been summoned to give a statement as part of the İBB investigation.
Regarding the matter, Utku Cihan stated that he is in Hopa and will provide his statement in Hopa.
Utku Cihan began his tenure as the Transportation Planning Manager at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 2019.
On December 23, 2019, he was appointed as the acting head of the Public Transportation Services Directorate.
In 2020, he began serving as the Head of the Transportation Department at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
He was elected as the Mayor of Hopa in the March 31, 2024 local elections.
Releasing a statement on his social media accounts, Cihan used the following expressions:
"I have been summoned to give a statement by the Istanbul Police Department, Financial Crimes Branch. Regarding this summons, which concerns my tenure as the Head of the Transportation Department at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, I informed them that I am currently serving as the Mayor of Hopa and that I wish to provide my statement in Hopa. I will give my statement in Hopa. I thank everyone who called, sent messages, and conveyed their feelings of solidarity. Do not worry, we are at our post!"
