Horror in Samsun: 70-year-old man opens fire on wife who did not want to divorce

The incident occurred on Evliya Çelebi Street in the Kemalpaşa neighborhood. According to the information obtained, 70-year-old İsmail Yılmaz opened fire in the middle of the street on his 43-year-old wife, Y.Y., from whom he had been living apart for a year.

WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED

The woman, who was seriously injured by bullets hitting her head and body, was taken to Bafra State Hospital by emergency medical teams arriving at the scene and was taken into surgery. Learning that the attacker, İsmail Yılmaz, had fled to his home after the incident, teams from the Bafra District Police Department's Public Security Bureau went to his house on Topraklık Street in the Kemalpaşa neighborhood.

"I CANNOT GO TO PRISON AT THIS AGE"

Holding a gun to his head at the window on the second floor of the two-story house, İsmail Yılmaz began firing his weapon into the air, telling the police who were trying to persuade him, 'I cannot go to prison at this age.'

One of the bullets fired from his weapon entered İsmail Yılmaz's throat and exited through the ear area. Seriously injured, İsmail Yılmaz was also taken to a private hospital in Bafra by emergency medical teams arriving at the scene.

After receiving initial treatment there, İsmail Yılmaz was transferred to the Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) Faculty of Medicine Hospital, where he was placed under treatment.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
