House arrest decision for journalist Özlem Gürses

Journalist Özlem Gürses was detained in Ankara on the grounds of statements she made during a program on her YouTube channel.

Brought from Ankara to the Vatan Police Headquarters at 04:00, Özlem Gürses was referred to the Çağlayan Courthouse after giving her statement following 7 hours of detention.

Following her statement, the prosecutor requested the arrest of Özlem Gürses.

The duty judgeship issued a decision for house arrest and a travel ban for Özlem Gürses.

PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE STATEMENT REVEALED

Gürses's statement to the prosecutor's office has also been revealed.

In her statement, Özlem Gürses noted that it is out of the question for her to associate the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and the Mehmetçik (Turkish soldiers) with a terrorist organization, and that she would not even think of such a thing.

Arguing that when the entire broadcast is watched, it will become clear that what she actually intended to convey has no relation to the accusation leveled against her, Gürses continued her statement as follows:

"On the contrary, it expresses that the northern corridor in Syria was captured by the TSK and the SNA (Syrian National Army) from ISIS control and cleared of the terrorist organization ISIS.

While using these sentences in the broadcast, I also tried to show them on a map. While doing this, what I wanted to explain may have remained unclear, or there may have been a misunderstanding while connecting two sentences.

I may have had a slip of the tongue or failed to connect the sentences completely here.

I definitely did not want to, and did not, portray the TSK as if it were connected to a terrorist organization. I do not accept the accusations leveled against me. I am also very sorry for the misunderstanding."
