House arrest has been requested for Bağımsız Maden-İş (Independent Mine Workers' Union) President Gökay Çakır and the union's organizing expert Başaran Aksu, who were detained during a police intervention against miners protesting for their rights in Ankara.

It was reported that Çakır and Aksu were detained during a protest organized to voice the demands of the mine workers. Following the detention process, house arrest was requested for the two union representatives.
