House arrest ruling for Muhittin Böcek in one of the cases against him
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek was arrested as part of an investigation into allegations of public loss caused at ASAT and its subsidiary company ALDAŞ. The arrest warrant issued against Böcek in this file has been converted to house arrest. Böcek's detention continues in other cases for which he is being tried.
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek was taken into custody on July 5 as part of a 'bribery' and 'corruption' investigation targeting the municipality.
On the same day, Böcek was referred to the courthouse, arrested, and suspended from his duties.
Böcek was arrested by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on allegations of 'bribery' and 'extortion' regarding the municipal subsidiary ANSET, and for causing a total public loss of 399 million 507 thousand liras through the Antalya Water and Wastewater Administration (ASAT) and its subsidiary company Altyapı Yönetim ve Danışmanlık Ticaret A.Ş. (ALDAŞ).
Muhittin Böcek's lawyers filed an application for the removal of the arrest warrant.
Evaluating the situation, the court panel decided to convert the detention status to house arrest.
Muhittin Böcek's detention continues in other cases in which he is being tried regarding the municipality's subsidiary companies.
