How did Rojin Kabaiş die?

Kabaiş, a student in the Preschool Teaching Department at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ) who told her friends she was going to the beach to collect pebbles, had not been heard from since September 27. Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that the lifeless body of Rojin Kabaiş, who had been searched for 18 days, had been reached.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Rojin Kabaiş, a first-year student in the Child Development Department at the Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ) Faculty of Education, went out after having dinner at the dormitory where she was staying on September 27.

When she did not return and her friends could not reach her by phone, they notified the police around 12:00 on September 28. It was determined that Kabaiş had said she would go to the Van Lake shore to collect pebbles around 18:30 on September 27, and that a friend she had invited to go with her had declined.

On September 28, Rojin's mobile phone, headphones, cake, and water were found on the shore of Lake Van. The phone was handed over to the police for examination.

For Rojin, who told her mother during a phone conversation that she would go to the market to buy coffee, water, and cake, the police, Gendarmerie Coast Guard, AFAD, and the Metropolitan Municipality fire department teams launched a search operation.

Making a statement on his social media account, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya said, "The lifeless body of our university student daughter Rojin Kabaiş, who left the KYK dormitory in Van on Friday, September 27, 2024, and had been missing for 18 days, was unfortunately found by our teams on the shore of Mollakasım Village on Lake Van. May God have mercy on our daughter Rojin; I extend my condolences to her family, loved ones, and our dear nation."

It is not yet known how Rojin Kabaiş, whose lifeless body was found on the 18th day of the search efforts, died.
