How many people applied for TOKİ's housing project? Murat Kurum announced the figure

A comprehensive presentation regarding the social housing project was made by Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum at the AKP MKYK meeting. During the presentation, the details of the "Housing Project of the Century," which will involve 500,000 units to be implemented across 81 provinces, were shared with the deputies.

APPLICATION RECORD: EXCEEDED 5 MILLION

Minister Kurum stated that the interest in the social housing project has exceeded expectations, reporting that the number of applications has surpassed 5 million. It was noted that there is intense demand for the project, which consists of 1+1 and 2+1 housing units across Turkey.

ERDOĞAN'S INSTRUCTION: "INCREASE HOMEOWNERSHIP"

Speaking at the meeting, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized after the presentation that smaller-square-meter housing units should be popularized through both TOKİ and the private sector.

It was reported that Erdoğan said, "Increase these types of homes to boost the homeownership rate."

"IT WILL ACT AS A BALANCER AGAINST HIGH RENTS"

The President stated that both the social housing project and the social rental housing efforts in Istanbul would impact the rise in rents.

It was reported that Erdoğan assessed, "The nation will find relief with this social housing project. We will save our citizens from this situation regarding high rents. These projects will bring a balancing effect to high rents."

HOW DOES THE APPLICATION PROCESS WORK?

Social housing applications began on November 10. Citizens who meet the requirements can submit their applications:

Until December 19 at Ziraat Bank, Halkbank, and Emlak Katılım Bank branches,

And until December 18 via e-Government.

A fee of 5,000 TL is required for the application.

The lottery draws will take place between December 29, 2025, and February 27, 2026.

Application fees will be refunded to those who do not become beneficiaries.

CONSTRUCTION PROCESS AND DELIVERY SCHEDULE

The construction processes for the new housing projects are planned to begin in 2026. Depending on the size of the projects, the construction period is expected to vary between 1.5 and 2.5 years.

The first housing deliveries are targeted to begin as of March 2027.

PRICES AND PAYMENT TERMS

Citizens who become beneficiaries in the lottery will begin payments after signing a contract with TOKİ.

The payment model is as follows:

10% down payment,

20-year maturity,

Installments will be updated twice a year based on the civil servant salary increase rate. (This rate is an upper limit; TOKİ may set a lower rate.)

In Istanbul, prices start from 1 million 950 thousand TL, and monthly installments start from 7,313 TL.

In Anatolian provinces, prices start from 1 million 800 thousand TL, and installments start from 6,750 TL.
