How the ISIS terrorist preparing for an attack in Istanbul was neutralized
In an operation conducted by the Istanbul Police in Sultanbeyli, Berkan Ç., who was assessed to be preparing for an attack, was neutralized; one citizen lost their life. Footage of the moment the ISIS terrorist was neutralized has emerged.
An operation was carried out in Istanbul against 21-year-old Berkan Ç., who was assessed to have links to the DAESH armed terrorist organization and to be preparing for an attack in Turkey.
Teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch went to the address identified in Sultanbeyli to apprehend the suspect. Berkan Ç., who was reported to have fled the address by vehicle during the operation, was tracked down in the vicinity of the Sultanbeyli Bus Terminal.
According to information from sources, the suspect opened fire on the police officers who arrived in the area for the operation. Following the police response, Berkan Ç. was neutralized.
In a statement regarding the incident, the Istanbul Governor's Office reported that one citizen was injured during the event. It was learned that the citizen, who was stated to have been caught in the crossfire and was seriously injured, later passed away.
It was reported that during the search of the suspect's address, a rope was seized, which was assessed to have been kept ready for escape during potential operations.
