Huge gap in income inequality: CEOs earn 200 times more than their employees

United States CEO earnings have reached remarkable levels. According to a study conducted by Equilar, CEOs of companies in the S&P 500 index earned an average of 16.3 million dollars in 2023, an increase of 12.6 percent.

During the same period, the average income of employees at these companies rose by 5.2 percent to 81 thousand 467 dollars. This situation revealed that CEOs earned 196 times more than their employees.

A large portion of CEOs' income varies depending on their companies' performance on the stock market. The positive trend in US stock markets, in particular, has further widened the salary gap between CEOs and employees.

HIGHEST AT 162 MILLION DOLLARS

Although the weight of the 7 technology companies referred to as the 'Magnificent 7' in US stock indices has been increasing recently, the highest-earning CEO in 2023 came from a different company.

Broadcom CEO Hock E. Tan, whose company is the ninth largest in the US by market value, earned 161.8 million dollars in 2023.

While Fair Isaac CEO William Lansing, who is in second place, earned 66.3 million dollars last year, Apple CEO Tim Cook, who is in third place, earned a salary of 63.2 million dollars.
