The poisoning incident that occurred in Istanbul's Ortaköy district on November 9 has caused great sorrow. Servet and Çiğdem B., a couple who came to Istanbul from Germany for a vacation, entered Turkey with their children, Kadir Muhammet B. and Masal B., and visited a mussel stand and a restaurant in Ortaköy.

THEY WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WITH SUSPICION OF POISONING

After purchasing mussels from a mobile mussel stand in Ortaköy around 14:20 on November 11, the family ate soup, sucuk kokoreç, and chicken tantuni at a restaurant named G.M. Falling ill 20 minutes after eating, the family sought medical attention; the mother and father were referred to Bezmialem Vakıf University Hospital, while the children were sent to Çapa Faculty of Medicine Hospital. While the family continued their treatment, the children's condition worsened on the morning of November 13, and they passed away. Çiğdem B. also passed away on November 14 despite all interventions.

FATHER SERVET B.'S TREATMENT CONTINUES

Following the death of his two children and wife due to poisoning, father Servet B.'s treatment in the hospital continues. As part of the investigation launched into the incident, examinations of the hotel room are ongoing, and samples of Turkish delight and vomit are being analyzed.

CRIMINAL RECORDS OF DETAINED SUSPECTS REVEALED

It has been learned that 3 suspects have been detained as part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The suspects have been identified as business owner Ercan E., mobile mussel seller Yusuf D., and Turkish delight seller Fatih T. It was stated that these individuals have prior criminal records for offenses such as "intentional injury," "fraud," and "negligent injury."

SEALING OF BUSINESSES

In connection with the incident in Istanbul, restaurants and shops were sealed. The restaurant where the family ate was sealed indefinitely by the Beşiktaş Municipality. Teams from the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry have begun their investigations by taking samples from the businesses in question.

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that the investigation is continuing meticulously and stated that 4 suspects are in custody. The Minister emphasized that examinations by the Council of Forensic Medicine are ongoing to definitively determine the causes of death. Minister Tunç wished a speedy recovery to the father, Servet B., following the passing of his wife and children, and stated that the investigation is continuing in all its aspects.
