Hundreds of young people victimized: Police raid on Galatasaray University students' New Year's party

The incident occurred on January 1 at around 00:30 on Meserburnu Street in Sarıyer.

According to the information obtained, the Galatasaray University Travel and Camping Club organized a New Year's party for university students and put tickets for the event on sale through an online ticketing platform, with prices ranging between 650 and 850 liras. 400 students purchased tickets for the event, which was announced on the club's social media under the title "New Year's Party at the Mansion."

In the later hours of the New Year's party, municipal police teams arrived following a tip-off. Police teams also arrived at the scene on the grounds that the establishment was not a public venue and lacked an alcohol sales license, necessary security measures, and a business license.

As a result of the procedures carried out, it was revealed that the club organizing the event had rented the mansion from an online site for daily home rentals and that it was registered as an office in the property records. While the teams dispersed the party, 20 bottles of alcohol ready for sale and 80 empty alcohol bottles were seized, despite no alcohol sales license having been issued by the TAPDK (Tobacco and Alcohol Market Regulatory Authority).

It was learned that a woman fainted due to alcohol consumption and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

400 STUDENTS VICTIMIZED

Although the business owner, C.G., claimed that the mansion was a public venue, as a result of the investigation, C.G. and the organizer of the university club that arranged the party were taken into custody on charges of "fraud," while 400 students who bought tickets to enter the new year at the mansion were left victimized. The establishment was sealed by municipal teams, and the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
