Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sen President Kuruoğlu: 3.8% inflation gap has emerged after 3 months

While ENAG announced March inflation at 3.91 percent and annual inflation at 75.20 percent, TÜİK, as always, announced March inflation at 2.46 percent and annual inflation at 38.10 percent. A difference of 1.45 percent monthly and 37.1 percent annually has emerged between ENAG and TÜİK.
Making a statement regarding the inflation figures, Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sen Chairman Levent Kuruoğlu said, “As is known, the political events experienced in our country in recent days have caused a serious increase in foreign exchange rates. This increase has naturally brought about price hikes in all services and products, especially food. Considering the unfolding events, it is not difficult to predict that political turmoil will continue in our country. We would have wished for common sense to prevail and for there to be peace in every field in our country; however, unfortunately, this is not the case. While everyone protects their own political fortress, truths lose their meaning. Therefore, these negative political developments are also directly affecting our economic life negatively,” he said.

Stating that life, which is already difficult for all our low- and fixed-income citizens, especially our retirees and civil servants, has become inextricable, Kuruoğlu added, “It is a fact that while all this is happening, the government has not taken any steps to even slightly relieve our low- and fixed-income citizens, and has practically forgotten the people. The political chaos we are in has turned into economic chaos as well,” he stated.

‘PURCHASING POWER IS FALLING NOT EVERY DAY, BUT EVERY MINUTE’

“Urgent measures must be implemented for civil servants, retirees, and all low-income citizens whose purchasing power is falling not every day, but every minute. While the welfare share regulation is being turned into a system, an additional raise must definitely be made; instead of a 6-month raise, raises should be made monthly or at least every 3 months until inflation falls to single digits,” said Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sen Chairman Levent Kuruoğlu, continuing his statement as follows:
“The 6 percent misery raise given as of January 2025 has melted away, and an inflation gap of 3.8 percent has already emerged for civil servants and retirees. This bleak economic picture that has occurred in three months has driven the government's inflation policy to bankruptcy and has also shattered Mr. Mehmet Şimşek's optimistic perspective.
As Hür-Sen, we want the government to turn its face to the people, especially civil servants and retirees; and to stay away from attitudes and behaviors that will cause political negativity. There is a strong relationship between law, justice, democracy, and the economy. It is not possible to govern a state by ignoring these.
I will not say anything to the 'yellow' unions. Because they are a hopeless case! No matter how much we warn or criticize, it is not possible to see even the minimum reactions expected from structures that lack willpower. What is essential is for all public employees to act with a sense of responsibility for their own future and that of their children. That day is near.”
