Hüseyin Baş's 'ancestral sport' response to Halil Konakçı
Independent Turkey Party (BTP) Chairman Hüseyin Baş responded to Halil Konakçı, who claimed that "hanging clerics is an ancestral sport for them," during his party's candidate introduction meeting.
Halil Konakçı claimed in a speech he attended in Bursa that he receives death threats every day. Speaking to a large crowd, Konakçı alleged that 'ropes' are sent to him daily.
In his speech, Konakçı said, "There are products of a grotesque and hollow mentality. They still exist. They no longer have the means. If they had the means, they would skin us alive. Do you know that they send me ropes every day? They say they will hang me on the gallows. They send something dangling.
You can no longer hang even the socks I set aside, let alone me. You cannot touch a hair on a Muslim's head, let alone a cleric. You cannot touch a cleric's turban or beard. Hanging clerics is their ancestral sport. You cannot hang the socks I set aside. Those days are over.
The sun of Islam has begun to break at dawn. We laugh and move on. And I am waiting for anyone who has the guts; do your worst. You people of unknown lineage," he stated.
BAŞ'S 'ANCESTRAL SPORT' RESPONSE
BTP Chairman Hüseyin Baş made a reference to the expressions used by Halil Konakçı during his party's candidate introduction meeting and gave the following response to Halil Konakçı, who said "hanging clerics is an ancestral sport for them":
“Our ancestral sport is to drive the Greeks into the sea, to make the seven powers tremble, and to watch them while sipping coffee at the Çankaya Mansion.
If we were to send you a rope, there would be no room left on your neck. The British rope is still there.”
