Hüseyin Özbek: An attack on Turkishness and the Republic through Alevism

Turkish Folk Music artist Erdal Erzincan posted, "Alevism is an ancient tradition that encompasses 72 nations. There is no such term as 'Kurdish Alevi' or 'Turkish Alevi'; there are Alevis who speak Kurdish, Alevis who speak Turkish, or Alevis who speak Zazaki. The language of Alevism is the language of the heart, while the language of worship is Turkish. This is how the tradition has passed it down to us."

Following this post, Erzincan became a target.

12punto columnist and lawyer Hüseyin Özbek, in his assessment titled "An attack on Turkishness and the Republic through Alevism," noted the following regarding the issue:

"Our thousand-year-old distilled synthesis of faith and culture. Turkish/Turkmen Alevism, whose spiritual leader is Hacı Bektaş Veli and whose spiritual center is Sulucakarahöyük/Hacı Bektaş.

Its language, voice, sayings, and prayers are Turkish. All of its great bards are Turkish.

So, it is time for an ethnic assassination of Alevism, is it?

'Grabbing logs (lumber) from before a flood' is a Turkish idiom that means opportunism, turning situational opportunities into spoils.

Alevism is a synthesis of faith and culture that is Turkish in its language, its conception, down to its very cells and capillaries, and smells of Turkishness.

The 7 great bards, from Pir Sultan to Şah Hatayi and Fuzuli, are also Turkish.

We are witnessing an attack aimed at destroying Turkish Alevism on the theocultural front of the second 'opening' process that began with the prisoner of İmralı."
