İÇDAŞ is using Palestine as a front for trade with Israel!
Journalist Metin Cihan has alleged that İÇDAŞ, a member of MÜSİAD, is using Palestine as a front to supply steel to Israel, which is currently under a trade ban.
Journalist Metin Cihan stated in a post on his X account that MÜSİAD member İÇDAŞ continues to supply steel to Israel, alleging that this is being carried out by using Palestine as a front.
Explaining how he reached this information and citing his sources, Metin Cihan said, "I was looking at the export figures for August from customs. The Biga Customs caught my attention. There were exports to Israel until 2023, but none in 2024 (due to the trade ban). So far, so normal. But what do I see? There were no exports to Palestine until 2023, but in 2024, millions of dollars worth of exports were suddenly made to Palestine. Source: TUIK"
While researching what was being sent commercially from Biga Customs to Palestine, Cihan learned that the customs office was located within the İÇDAŞ factory grounds and stated, "While I was looking to see what we might be sending to Palestine from Biga Customs, I learned this: It turns out this Customs office is inside the İÇDAŞ factory grounds. A special customs office was opened for this company so that İÇDAŞ could export easily. A minister performed the opening. Source: Ministry of Trade"
"What is İÇDAŞ exporting? Steel. To whom? To Israel. Or let me put it the other way around. From which country does the Israeli army meet its steel needs? From Turkey. From whom? From İÇDAŞ. Indeed, when we look at what is being exported from Biga customs, we see iron and steel. Source: TUIK"
Stating that the trade ban with Israel is merely for show, Cihan claimed that although there appears to be no trade in customs records regarding Turkey's steel exports to Israel, trade continues through third countries as a workaround.
Here is that post by Metin Cihan:
MÜSİAD member İÇDAŞ is still supplying steel to Israel, and furthermore, it is showing this steel as if it were being sent to Palestine on paper. Let me explain.
