İlber Ortaylı makes a statement regarding his 'severe' health issue: I need to lead an isolated life

A post regarding his health status has come from historian Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı. Stating that he fell ill suddenly, Ortaylı said, "I must confess that the ailment I experienced was so severe that it was unlike any of my previous health troubles."

Stating that he had to cancel his programs, Ortaylı said, "Unfortunately, upon the advice of my doctors, I also had to cancel our meeting at the Kocaeli Book Fair, which was to take place this weekend.

I do not currently have the strength to make long journeys and appear before you. Furthermore, I need to lead an isolated life for a while," he stated. 

It had been alleged that Ortaylı was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack, and his daughter, Tuna Ortaylı, had denied the heart attack claims on both her own account and her father's account. 

Providing information about his health status, Ortaylı wrote the following in a post shared via his social media account:

"My very dear readers,

Due to the reactions caused by a suddenly emerging illness, I received treatment at Koç Hospital for over a week. I must confess that the ailment I experienced was so severe that it was unlike any of my previous health troubles. For this reason, I could not attend the events at the Haliç Congress Center, İzmir Dokuz Eylül University, and the City Hospital. Unfortunately, upon the advice of my doctors, I also had to cancel our meeting at the Kocaeli Book Fair, which was to take place this weekend. I do not currently have the strength to make long journeys and appear before you. Furthermore, I need to lead an isolated life for a while.

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your understanding and for wishing me healing with your kind words.

A thank you also goes to Prof. Mehmet Kanbay from the Nephrology Department at Koç Hospital and his valuable team. I overcame this crisis through their devoted efforts, and I am still continuing my treatment under their close supervision. My physician is not just advising me to rest, but practically 'ordering' it. Therefore, I will remain in recovery for a while longer.
