Following the passing of historian Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı, his final wish regarding his burial place, shared during an interview with journalist Adem Metan, has become a topic of discussion.

Stating that he loves Istanbul very much, Ortaylı said regarding his grave, "It will probably be Gallipoli. I don't want it here; I don't like crowds."

Following the news of Ortaylı's death, the final wish he expressed regarding his grave in an interview with Adem Metan five months ago has resurfaced.

"I DON'T WANT IT HERE, I DON'T LIKE CROWDS"

During a conversation about Istanbul, Ortaylı said, "I am not from Istanbul by birth. I don't think my grave will be here either, may God delay it. But I know Istanbul; I am in love with this city. You walk around here, you tread the ground, you read. When you approach here, it will come to you instantly."

When asked by Metan, "Do you have a final wish regarding your grave?", Ortaylı replied, "I do, it will probably be Gallipoli. I don't want it here; I don't like crowds."
