Three days have passed since the collapse at the Çöpler Gold Mine. As rescue efforts continue, İliç Mayor Mustafa Gürbüz made a statement, saying, "My nephew is also under the rubble."
A landslide occurred three days ago at the Çöpler Gold Mine located in the İliç district of Erzincan. As a result of the landslide, nine workers were trapped under soil containing sulfuric acid and cyanide.
İliç Mayor Mustafa Gürbüz answered questions from journalists following a visit to the İliç Municipality by former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and former Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar.
"WE WILL REACH OUR BROTHERS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE"
Stating that the efforts are ongoing, Gürbüz said, "Everyone is working here with the full strength of our state. We will reach our brothers as soon as possible. Today, we have reached a certain point. My nephew is also under the rubble. They were all my nephews, my relatives," he said.
