Illegal betting operation... 8.5 billion TL money flow identified

The Ministry of Interior announced that simultaneous operations were conducted in 13 provinces centered in Batman targeting illegal betting and cybercrimes. In the investigation carried out under the coordination of the Batman Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 102 suspects were taken into custody.

The operation was carried out with the support of MASAK and the Gendarmerie General Command's Departments of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) and Cybercrime Combat. As a result of technical and physical surveillance by gendarmerie teams, a total money flow of 8.5 billion TL was detected in bank accounts belonging to the suspects.

According to the ministry's statement, it was determined that the suspects facilitated illegal betting through websites and acted as intermediaries for illegal money transfers. It was stated that the proceeds of crime, believed to have been obtained from betting, were attempted to be concealed through electronic money infrastructures, special software, and financial routing mechanisms.

In a statement on its social media account, the Ministry of Interior said, "We continue our fight against cybercrimes with determination to protect our citizens from the trap of illegal betting." The statement also congratulated the gendarmerie units, MASAK, and the Batman Chief Public Prosecutor's Office involved in the operation.
