Illegal betting operation in 6 provinces: 13 arrested
13 out of 15 suspects were arrested in an illegal betting operation centered in Nevşehir.
The 15 suspects, who were detained during simultaneous operations conducted by the Provincial Police Department's Cybercrime Branch at various addresses in Nevşehir, Istanbul, Kayseri, Diyarbakır, Şırnak, and Osmaniye on October 16, were referred to the courthouse.
Of the suspects brought before a judge, 13 were arrested, and 2 were released under judicial control conditions.
15 SUSPECTS CAPTURED
Following a 5-month physical and technical surveillance by police teams, 15 suspects, 9 of whom were university students, were captured in the operation carried out across 6 provinces. Approximately 500 million lira in money movement was detected in the suspects' bank accounts.
It was determined that one of the suspects, B.D., used the bank and virtual exchange accounts of university students—to whom he paid commissions for directing money to illegal betting applications abroad—and that he promised them a luxurious lifestyle and organized entertainment programs for the students at certain venues.
