Illegal villas are being demolished, but the AKP member remains untouched: No action taken for 6 months

In Istanbul's Vaniköy, the illegal construction by a Russian oligarch, who had demolished and rebuilt the confiscated villa of Adnan Oktar, has been torn down. The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization blamed the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) for the illegal construction. However, in Çanakkale, right next to the 18 March Bridge, the illegal villa built by AKP MP Ayhan Gider is being overlooked.

According to a report by Veli Toprak from Sözcü newspaper, the villa has not been touched for 6 months, despite the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization canceling its building registration certificate. For the illegal villa, which was discovered following a citizen's report, the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization determined it was 'illegal' and requested its 'demolition.' A 'demolition' notice was sent to the relevant units in March 2024. However, in the 6 months that have passed, the villa has not been touched.

'MAY THE TERRACE EXTENSION WORK BE BENEFICIAL'

Expansion work was carried out on the villa, which was expected to be demolished. The AKP deputy added a terrace to his illegal villa. The craftsman who built the terrace shared the renovation work on the illegal villa, saying, "May the terrace extension and carcass work for our Çanakkale MP Mr. Ayhan Gider be beneficial."

AKP Çanakkale MP Ayhan Gider had previously made a statement regarding the 'illegal villa,' saying, "I did not build the house, I bought it. I bought a house that had benefited from the zoning amnesty. I changed the whitewash, paint, windows, and doors."

It was also revealed that the brother of the illegal villa's owner, AKP member Ayhan Gider, was dismissed from the General Directorate of Security due to FETÖ links. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, responding to a parliamentary question on the matter by CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır, stated that Aydın Gider, who held the rank of 1st Class Police Chief, was dismissed by a Statutory Decree (KHK) on January 6, 2017.
