Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu will hold a press conference regarding the arrest of Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat and the subsequent developments.

According to the report in Yetkinreport, IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu will hold a press conference at Saraçhane on Wednesday, January 22, at 13:00. The report stated that İmamoğlu would share "striking information that the public will hear for the first time" during the meeting. While it was learned that the "striking information" mentioned in the announcement concerns "the injustices that have occurred," according to information provided to YetkinReport by IMM sources, İmamoğlu will also make statements regarding the allegations that led to the arrest of Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat.

The main agenda of the meeting is the investigation launched against İmamoğlu on charges of threatening Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek and his family while he was criticizing the investigation opened into CHP Youth Branch President Cem Aydın.
