Message from İmamoğlu to the youth: 'They are close to making history'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and CHP Presidential Candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was arrested as part of an investigation and sent to the Marmara Closed Prison in Silivri, has released a new message.

Addressing the youth, İmamoğlu said, "I stand with our youth, and I admire their courage. They are close to making history. I love them very much."

CHP Deputy Chairperson Gökçe Gökçen visited the mayors and party officials currently held at the Silivri (Marmara) Prison.

Gökçen was accompanied by members of parliament Süreyya Öneş Derici, Ayça Taşkent, Süleyman Bülbül, Aysu Bankoğlu, Türkan Elçi, and Cumhur Uzun.

Speaking to the press in front of the prison upon exiting, Gökçen stated, "We visited our mayors and our fellow travelers today, and we discussed with them what is happening in Turkey and what the public is experiencing."

'I STAND WITH OUR YOUTH'

Gökçen also shared İmamoğlu's message. Addressing the youth, İmamoğlu conveyed the following:

“The events that damage our reputation, our economy, our democracy, and all our national values sadden me deeply. The treatment of young people, who are fighting for their rights with their brilliant hearts, courage, and intellect, has shaken me to the core. I stand with our youth, and I admire their courage. They are close to making history. I love them very much.”

Gökçen invited all citizens to the rally to be held tomorrow in Maltepe.
